PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Hello Cardinal Families!

Where has the time gone? It is already April. Just two short months and summer will be here again!
As the temperatures rise, please keep in mind that many of our friends have grown since last summer. Please be sure that our students are wearing appropriate shorts (mid-thigh) and shirts (must cover the tummy and tank tops need to be three fingertips wide.
Just a quick reminder, testing begins next week. 3rd graders will take the ELA test on 4/5 and 4/6. 4th and 5th graders will take the FSA Writing test on 4/7. Please ensure your students get a good night’s sleep and healthy breakfast on the morning(s) of testing. We know that our students will shine, as they always do!
A few reminders…
Dismissal is on a staggered schedule. K-2 is at 2:40, and 3-5 is at 2:50. We are getting faster and more efficient and are brainstorming ways to improve the process even more.
Please remember that we are a family and are here for you. Please see my Handle with Care notice below. My email address is [log in to unmask], and my cell number is (850)408-7761.
We are looking forward to a productive month and appreciate your help and support in getting our friends to school every day on time. Remember, our school day is from 8:30 AM to 2:50 PM. Car riders need to be picked up no later than 3:15 PM when student supervision ends.

Through everything… we are #CardinalStrong
Love, Mrs. Mortham

Art
In art this month, we are mixing Spring with printing making. We are learning how to create a monoprint, subtractive print, and collagraphy. We are looking at the bright colors we see in the environment. We are looking at the beautiful world around us and interpreting it through prints!

Music
This month in music, we are studying music from around the world. I love introducing different instruments, cultures, and languages to the students!! At the end of every class, I try to set aside time for students to choose a country they would like to hear music from. Maybe over the next few weeks, you could discuss your ancestry with your child, so they can ask me to hear music from that country.

Computer
This month, Kindergarten classes will continue their lessons on locating letters on the keyboard. First grade is learning how to type words and use the space bar and the delete/backspace key. The second grade is continuing their keyboarding skills practice and will next move to basic word processing. The third grade has completed word processing, and they are now learning about databases. Fourth and fifth grade students took the ICT Fundamentals exam for the first time before spring break (they have three chances to pass the test). Several students passed the certification exam the first time out, and many others came very close! We will continue reviewing and practicing in advance of the students’ second attempt.

PE
Sunny skies and warm temperatures are on the horizon! We still continue to use water bottles at PE.With Boosterthon on the calendar this month, please remember to bring your water bottle to class these last few weeks.

Thanks,Coach McB

E.D.E.P.

Greetings, EDEP Families!

Happy Spring! The weather has been very erratic this past month. Some days were warm and beautiful, then we had some cooler weather, and lately, it’s been stormy. We have adjusted our days to accommodate these different weather conditions. No matter the weather, we always have fun!

I have had a lot of inquiries about summer camp. We will have camp again this summer, and we will be able to take field trips. We are very excited about that. We are working out the final details with the district office and hope to start registration by mid - April. I will post to the school information page on Facebook when registration is open. Camp will run from May 31 to July 22. We will be closed the week of July 4. We have so many fun things planned, and we are excited for your kids to attend.

April 15 – Closed for Spring Holiday

May 3 – Cycle 10 is due. This cycle will be pro-rated to 14 days. All outstanding fees (late payment, late pick up) must be paid in full for your child to be able to attend this last cycle.
