Good afternoon, Wolves!

Don't forget Open House is tonight, from 6:00-7:30. Students and parents will report to their student's 1st period class at 6:00. We will have a short video introduction, then provide families an opportunity to walk their student's schedule, spending 10 minutes in each classroom, with open house concluding at 7:30. While we will have 1st period class assignments posted and student schedules available, please utilize your FOCUS access to review your student's schedule in advance. We will also have our draft school improvement plan and school advisory council membership available for review and vote in the Media Center.

As mentioned at the beginning of the school year, the state of Florida has introduced new state testing and progress monitoring, called Florida's Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST). Swift Creek students completed the first progress monitoring assessment, PM1, earlier this year. While we value the intent of these assessments and will utilize data to provide strategic supports for students, it is important to recognize this is the first year for FAST and these new progress monitoring assessments. With that being said, the PM1 results are available on FOCUS for parent review, under the "Reports" tab. I have attached a document to help explain those results.

The Tallahassee Fire Department has partnered with Leon County Schools to provide mentorship opportunities with local firefighters. Yesterday, we received a visit from some of these firefighters. They had lunch with some of our students, showed them the firetruck, and even allowed students to climb on the truck and take pictures. We are excited to work with the Tallahassee Fire Department this year and are thankful for their support!

Thank you for another great week, I hope to see everyone at open house tonight!
