SAIL High School would like to send a heartfelt thank you to all Veterans as we honor those who have dedicated themselves to the service of our country. In reading an article by USAA, it challenges us to “Go Beyond Thanks”. Today, if an opportunity presents itself, go beyond thanks and small talk to try and connect with a veteran on a deeper level. What is/was your service like? Can you tell me about some stories from when you were in the military? Learning more about their service, honors each veteran's service in ways in which they feel comfortable talking about it. "We know that personal connection is a critical component to mental health and suicide prevention," said Katy Dondanville, Psy.D., UT Health Science Center San Antonio. "Rather than simply offering our thanks, we should be looking for ways to go beyond small talk and create more meaningful connections with veterans and better understand their service."

Today let’s continue to make a positive impact in the veteran community and honor those who have dedicated themselves to the service of our country. Let’s Go Beyond the Thanks!
