Good Evening Raa Nation!!

Last night’s PTO meeting was excellent! We will have 3 committees that parents will have the opportunity to join. These committees will serves different functions but will all work together for the success of our Teachers and Students. If you are interested in any committee, please email Ms. Sampson ([log in to unmask]) with your email and phone contact. See committee discriptions below:

1. Organizational Committee

Assists with the coordination and facilitation of PTO sponsored activities. Serves as the communication liaison between school administration, PTO committees, and the school community. Collaborates with school administration in planning and supporting school initiatives to promote student and community engagement to foster excellence in academic, artistic, and cultural endeavors.

Activities include, but are not limited to, the following: Student Events, Teacher and Staff Appreciation, Fundraisers, Academic Nights and Book Fairs, Faculty Meeting support, and Parent Involvement events.

2. Financial Committee

Manages the financial affairs of the PTO. Coordinates regularly with both the Organizational and Business Partners committees to account for the financial status and needs of the PTO, responsible for counting and receipt/deposit of PTO funds raised, and accounting for the fiscal support provided to school based clubs/events. Collaborates with the school bookkeeper to ensure compliance to applicable regulations in the fiscal functions of the PTO.

Activities include, but are not limited to, the following: Providing monthly financial reports to the PTO, approving the allocation of fiscal support to school based clubs/events, receipting expenditures and fundraising purchases (ex. School dance tickets), and working with the Business Partners committee to establish a 501(c)(3) for PTO.

3. Business Partners Committee

Serves as the Raa Middle School liaison for the Leon County Schools Partners for Excellence program. Identifies potential partnerships between businesses, agencies, or organizations that are willing to work with Raa to enchanted and enrich educational and artistic opportunities for students.

Activities include, but are not limited to, the following: Networking with identified businesses, agencies, or organizations through multiple communication channels, collaborate with the district on policies and procedures of establishing partnerships, work with the organizational committee to organize and promote share nights with potential partners, seeking sponsorships, assisting with grant applications, working with financial committee on establishing a 501(c)(3) for PTO.
