Subject: Reading Resources

Greetings! Leon County Schools Academic Services is happy to announce several resources we would encourage students and families to use at home to enhance reading proficiency. Information regarding these programs, along with future ones the district is working to provide, will be available to the public via the Reading Resource for Students and Families website<https://nam11.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.leonschools.net%2FPage%2F51959&data=04%7C01%7CBrownl2%40leonschools.net%7C5f784a150559491fddd008d8c49cc089%7C69292adba72a4537aa24d67a6f5642bc%7C0%7C0%7C637475524807567911%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&sdata=BaGsHrb7UW7PeFHvZo5l4Vpn1DfVTpAzbELW6TrAv8E%3D&reserved=0>.

The first program, the LCS Above and Beyond Extended Learning Program, encourages students to utilize district-supported online programs such as i-Ready, Achieve 3000, or Accelerated Reader outside of the school day. The online portions of these programs allow students to receive supplemental instruction in reading at any time and from any place.

The second is a FLDOE program, Florida's Step Up for Students, can provide eligible students with scholarships for part-time tutoring and after-school literacy programs or materials. To be eligible, students must be

· Currently enrolled in a Florida public school in third, fourth or fifth grade for the 2020-21 school year, and

· Scored a performance level 1 or 2 on the English Language Arts (ELA) test in the 2018-19 school year, or
