PERT Testing

The PERT used to qualify for Dual Enrollment, will be offered on the days listed below. Dual Enrollment requires a 3.0 minimum GPA and completion of Algebra 2 in order to take a math through Dual Enrollment. The PERT test is accepted by TCC and FAMU. The deadline to sign up is the Friday before the scheduled date. Bring your Chromebook or personal computer fully charged.

Please email or call ahead so Dr. Williams can leave your IB Diploma and/or IB Transcript at the front office for you, in case he is not available when you come to campus.

TCC has once again graciously agreed to host our IB and AP Exams this spring, and we are grateful to them for their continuing support of our school and our students! Our Honors American History students, along with their teacher, Dr. Thompson, have been busy helping our whole school celebrate Black History Month with the theme Black Imagination. The students are working on essays for an essay contest, helping the teachers decorate their door for a door decorating competition, hosting a natural hair showcase, competing in a poster decorating contest and a poetry contest! These activities are open to ALL RHS students!
In the classroom, Ms. Casanova's AP US History classes have just finished learning about the Great Depression. The students played a life simulation in which they tracked their finances as if they were living during this time period in order for them to better understand what life was like. Seniors in Theory of Knowledge are finishing their final TOK essays and preparing them for submission to IB. First year IB Psychology students are finishing up their experiments for their internal assessments and are beginning their papers.

Anatomy and Physiology students are about to start their dissections! They will be dissection various organs and eventually a mink.

Biology I students have been working on muscle action potential lab. Students hooked up electrodes on two spots around their bicep muscle, and one under their elbow to measure how many volts are generated when contracting their muscle.

Chemistry I students are starting a precipitation lab.

Physical Science students are about to start their Motion Lab Activities using spark timers, carts, and making distance-time graphs.

IB Science Students- Group 4 PowerPoint is due via Canvas to all science teachers by Feb. 5th. The presentation is February 15th from 3-5pm in the Auditorium.

IB Biology Students- Your IA Draft is due Feb. 8th! It cannot be written well in one day.

IB SL Chemistry Students (Ms. Figueroa's Class)- Your in-school IA day is Wednesday, February 8th.

IB Environmental Systems and Societies Students- Your IA Draft is due Feb. 12th! It cannot be written well in one day.

The Capital Regional Science and Engineering Fair will be on February 10th at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center.

National Honor Society- The list of eligible 10th and 11th graders who are eligible to join NHS will be posted on the first floor of building 23 and 24, also on all 3 floors of the Science Building (19) by 2:45pm on Tuesday, February 7th. There will be a QR code on the flyer by each list of names for students to scan that will take them to the online application. The online application is due by 2:45pm on Friday February 17th. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted. Members who complete the application and are chosen to become NHS members will be announced on March 1st by posting names in the same building locations.
