Parents and Guardians -

I apologize that the message below did not send on Friday. Please forgive it's tardiness. And I hope you had a FABULOUS weekend!

As a reminder, today, Monday, 8/30, Leon County Schools is requiring all students in PK-8 to wear a mask unless they have a new completed opt-out form, signed by a doctor, with a doctor's stamp or letter on doctor office letterhead. The previous forms, which only required a parent's signature, will no longer be valid. I have attached the new district opt-out form to this e-mail. Please make sure your student [cid:image003.png@01D79DA8.7B79DED0] has a mask when they arrive at school every day. Students will not be required to wear a mask while outside and our teachers will provide mask breaks outside throughout the day. Teachers will also be mindful of individual mask breaks, as needed. We appreciate your cooperation and support as we attempt to provide the safest environment for our students.

Open House will be virtual this year. Your teacher will communicate the open house plan for their class. Open House usually includes the ability to look over the draft School Improvement Plan (SIP). Even though our event is digital this year, you can still check out the draft SIP here: https://linkprotect.cudasvc.com/url?a=https%3a%2f%2fwww.leonschools.net%2fdomain%2f464&c=E,1,MW9TVP-C3Ql0dBXtmj62ezwApNgfeHw4Dg4WAZWACkluKjriKPNhP42gbIKvlY5FLJ2Dk9id-LvmQDtoMBt5aSFWhxFZm-UpvoSh-prXnzmosg1OAOJNU2AFPw,,&typo=1

There is no school on September 6 in observance of Labor Day.

September 16 is a fall holiday. Enjoy your day off!

There will be a SAC and PTO meeting on September 23 (last Friday's email listed September 16, which was the wrong date). If you are interested in becoming an active member for the PTO, please email Nicole Trafton at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> If you are interested in joining SAC, please email Beth Jackson at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>

PTO is sponsoring a Healthy Hawks Supply Drive. Please see the attached flyer to see the supplies that are being requested.

Also, the Swag Store is still open and ready for business! It is not too late to get some HRES gear. https://linkprotect.cudasvc.com/url?a=https%3a%2f%2fhawksriseelementary.square.site%2f&c=E,1,JrXiVnyn8yiWceWMNWheFS3Ah7yVzQOD1bzwkifM2dTMVx4W2d7mzqg1vdFizvEEkQWuiGjjnB-sgzvFJoCpf9BhI9r9ml2f-45zEohSNn3wiZph8iEj63_tDIA,&typo=1<https://nam11.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Flinkprotect.cudasvc.com%2Furl%3Fa%3Dhttps%253a%252f%252fhawksriseelementary.square.site%252f%26c%3DE%2C1%2CxBn19FjmvH7NLkwxP_7EeqIKqPmngvyj9CP3JGxX82lX_KgBHMOAO5Fkoe3WdXrR5a7O3DUryO2W_mnrgc0GC93zQItHQR73csH0zk3EG839UoP0%26typo%3D1&data=04%7C01%7Cjacksonb4%40leonschools.net%7C1e66d94b83104b77d46e08d901117f8e%7C69292adba72a4537aa24d67a6f5642bc%7C0%7C0%7C637541997568137687%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&sdata=GOrQRRXbOb1FOk9M9RTJe7%2FAQaHt7YaAMcIUgGwWQ44%3D&reserved=0>

Check out the Chiles Cheer Camp Flyer below.

Our school theme this year is WE'RE MOVING MOUNTAINS! A huge shout out and THANK YOU to Mrs. White, our art teacher, who is helping us do that. She has painted a beautiful mountain mural in the cafeteria that our students will "climb" by reading words with the AR program. Our goal this year is to have students read 250,000,000 words!!! Please enjoy a book with your student tonight and support our school literacy challenge.

Have a great Monday!
We appreciate your support!
Beth Jackson, principal
