Hello Hawks Rise Families,

Tonight is the Annual Hawks Rise PTO Silent Auction! We hope to see you there! We are so appreciative of our PTO's hard work!

  * Next week our focus skill will be Determination-Facing challenges and persisting.

  * March 1st is the deadline for the 30 book challenge! After reading each book, students should color in the corresponding square on their bookmark for the category and list the book title on the back. Students in grade 1st - 5th grade should read books in their range and take the AR quizzes. Students who complete the challenge by the deadline will attend a pizza party on March 3rd. They will also have the opportunity to throw water balloons at Mrs. Martin, Mr. Wise, Mrs. Tamplin, and Mrs. Van Hise! This challenge is separate from AR goals. Students will be rewarded for making their 3rd quarter goals by the classroom teachers.

  * The deadline for reading and testing on Seven Blind Mice for our K-2 Principal's Book Chat is February 28. 1st and 2nd grade students should take the AR test, and Kindergarten students should draw a picture of their favorite part of the book and turn it in to their teachers.
  * Our March book chat will be for our 2nd-5th students, and the book is Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls. We have ordered extra copies for the Media Center.
  * Just a reminder that if your child is tardy to please enter the front office so that your child can receive a tardy pass.
  * Field Day reminders (schedule is attached)
     * We are anticipating a crowd, but still need to scan parent IDs. Feel free to stop by the office today or early the week of February 27 to have your driver's license scanned. If you are unable to make it before and plan on attending your child's run, please be ready to wait in the office to have your ID scanned.
     * If you plan to attend more than one session, please save your printed badge so that you do not need to wait in line to be re-scanned. If you do lose it before the second session, we can re-scan it, but please be prepared to wait.
     * Put sunblock on your child the morning of field day. You are also welcome to send a bottle of spray sunblock in for reapplication (please label your child's sunblock bottle).
     * Please encourage students to bring their own water bottle to the run (please label your child's water bottle).
     * Please send your student with a towel. Classes will have assigned areas. A towel makes it more comfortable for students to wait for the next event.
