Hello Hawks Rise Families,

Our students are just about finished with the 2nd  Progress Monitoring Assessments.  We are working on make-ups next week and will be reviewing data to assist us as we make academic plans for the second semester. We are proud of our students' efforts on their testing these past two weeks!

School Information:

  *   Don't forget about the Principal's Book Chat set for January 31. Our 2nd -5th graders will be reading On the Wings of Heroes by Richard Peck.  We have 20 copies in the media center for students to check out, but we are asking students to return the book after 7 days so that other students have the opportunity to check one out.



  *   3rd Quarter Reading Challenge --For the next reading challenge, students are encouraged to read 30 books on a variety of genres. After reading each book, students should color in the corresponding square on their bookmark for the category and list the book title on the back. Students in grade 1st - 5th grade should read books in their range and take the AR quizzes. The challenge runs from December 17 - March 1st. Students who complete the challenge by the deadline will attend a pizza party on March 3rd. They will also have the opportunity to throw water balloons at Mrs. Martin, Mr. Wise, Mrs. Tamplin, and Mrs. Van Hise! This challenge is separate from AR goals. Students will be rewarded for making their 3rd quarter goals by the classroom teachers.



  *   We have lots of coats in our Lost and Found ( see attached).  These coats have been here for several months so we will be sending the unclaimed coats to Goodwill next Friday.



  *   Safety in Back Parking Lot-some students are dropped off at Before Care in the back parking lot.  Please be sure to follow the arrows so that all cars are going in the right direction as you exit onto Meridian Road.

  *   Get ready to dive into the Hawks Rise Secrets of the Sea Silent Auction on Friday, Feb. 24th at the Northside Community Center from 6:30-9:30pm (bidding ends at 9pm). The auction will include heavy hors d'oeuvres, a DJ, dance floor, photo booth, and hundreds of items to bid on to benefit our school! There are many great items this year including another adorable puppy donated by North Florida Animal Hospital, and, wow, the highly sought-after class baskets are turning out amazing! Attire for the event is Under the Sea/Secrets of the Sea theme (ocean colors, mermaid, pirate, sailor, etc). Feel free to dress up or come as you are, there will be a prize for best dressed!   *   Don't worry if you can't make it to the auction, there is a non-attendance ticket option you can purchase as a donation to the school and help your child's class win a party and animal encounter experience with Florida Wildlife Commission!
