Hello Hawks Rise Families,
Happy February! We are off to a wonderful start with our first Friday lunch today. I know the students loved their treat from PTO!
* Our teachers have been busy reviewing the data from our 2nd Progress Monitoring session. We will be focusing on teaching the remaining standards for each grade level and on providing interventions for students who need some extra support. With only four months left in this school year, every learning day is extra important!
* Next week, we will be focusing on Patience—such a great skill for all of us to practice 😊. Patience-accepting and tolerating delays and challenges with a positive attitude.
* Please see the attached letter from Champions. We are happy to partner with them as they work to enhance our students’ overall fitness and long-term health and well-being!
* We are also happy to have the Girls on the Run program at our school. A big thanks to Mrs. German who meets with the Girls on the Run on Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:45-4:15. Registration is open for the next season which opens on February 27 and ends the week of May 1. Please see the attached flyer.

* I’m so happy to see our K-2 students reading Seven Blind Mice, the Principal’s Chat book for February. We will have our chat on March 2 (I will be off-campus at a district meeting on March 1). Students must complete the book and test by the end of the day February 28. Kindergarten students may choose to draw a picture of their favorite part of the book, and it is also due on February 28.
* Our March book chat will be for our 2nd-5th students, and the book is Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls. We have ordered extra copies for the Media Center, and they should be in by next Wednesday, if students want to get a head start on reading it.

Get ready to dive into the Hawks Rise Secrets of the Sea Silent Auction, on Friday, Feb. 24th at the Northside Community Center from 6:30-9:30pm (bidding ends at 9pm). The auction will include hors d'oeuvres from local restaurants, Madison Social specials, DJ by Amplify, dance floor, photo booth, and hundreds of items to bid on to benefit our school! There are many great items this year including another adorable puppy donated by North Florida Animal Hospital, and, wow, the highly sought-after class baskets are turning out amazing! Attire for the event is Under the Sea/Secrets of the Sea theme (ocean colors, mermaid, pirate, sailor, etc). Feel free to dress up or come as you are, there will be a prize for best dressed!

Your ticket also gets your child/children an under the sea treasure, shout out on the morning news, and live animal encounter experience with Florida Wildlife Commission! Don't worry if you can't make it to the auction, there is a non-attendance ticket you can purchase for your children to experience the under the sea fun, help them win a class party, and support our school!
The homeroom class with the most participation in each grade level will win a popcorn and movie party from PTO![��]
