Please help me in congratulating Alexandria Meis and Sujin VanHoeij who were announced this morning as the FIRST PLACE WINNERS in the Jr. Division Group Documentary category for the Florida History Day (History Fair) state competition. They will be advancing on to the NATIONAL COMPETITION this June!

These young ladies have made it to the state competition previously for their 6th and 7th grade projects. In both years they just narrowly missed nationals in run-off adjudication.

I cannot adequately put into words how proud, excited, and hyped I am for these two hard working young scholars. Please see below the final project they sent to the state competition - this is a private link making the video accessible to only those with the link. They have a few edits to consider between now and nationals based on judge feedback, but for now the girls are enjoying their well-deserved win.

Note: Only THREE projects from Leon County were selected to advance to the national competition. Of those three, two are from Leon with Cobb as the only middle school representing LCS on the national stage.
