Hello Magnet parents and welcome back!

We are looking forward to seeing you this Thursday at our first Magnet Parent meeting as well as Open House!

The Magnet Parent Meeting is scheduled from 5:30-6:45. At that time, you will receive Magnet specific information. You will hear about curriculum, Parent Portal, field trips, fundraisers, and teacher web sites. Should you bring your children? Of course, they are welcome!

The second part of the night is scheduled from 7:00 to 8:11. Really? 8:11? Yes! While this assigned time may sound a bit odd, you will follow your child's schedule and get an opportunity to fill the seats that they fill each day. As you travel from class to class, each teacher will deliver an oral presentation, very much like they do each day. In order ensure that you make it to each class on time and so that teachers are able to begin the each period promptly, you may schedule individual conferences by calling Guidance at 488-3363.

Here are a few dates to add to your calendar:
        Progress reports go home-Sept 21
        Applebee's Welcome Back School Breakfast-October 15th; 8:00-10:00.
6th grade Magnet field trip to NASA-March 13-14
7th grade Magnet field trip to Sea World-March 13-14

Lastly--a few hints to help you and your middle scholar to be successful:
Communicate often-with your child and school staff.
Visit the school.
Help with organization.
Help set goals.
Talk about peer pressure.
Get to know your child's friends.
Help establish good study habits.
When your child thinks that it is time to stop holding your hand, loosen your grip just a bit but don't let go.

As usual-thanks for choosing Cobb Middle School!

:)
