Here are a couple of reminders for this week:

Autism Acceptance

Spirit Week!!

[cid:b980bc6e-02e9-4194-91ea-31a072a8a6f6]

April is Autism awareness month! Please join Chaires Elementary in supporting our unique diversity of students, especially focused the week of April 18-22 on our hero’s with Autism!

Science Monday- Many important scientists, like Charles Darwin, Albert Einstein and Isaac Newton, helped shape the world today AND were diagnosed with Autism. Let’s celebrate their successes by dressing like scientists!

Tuesday- This month the world celebrates Autism awareness by wearing blue, please wear blue to show your support. Lets light Chaires up blue!

Wonderful Wednesday- One characteristic of Autism disorder is intense focus on specific passions. Pick something YOU are passionate about and show it off! Have you wanted to be a star soccer player? Become an actress? Do you really love a video game or a movie character?

Spectrum Thursday- Autism is a spectrum. No two cases look the same and there is no single mold that a child diagnosed can fit into. Please wear a spectrum of colors today. Rainbow everything!!!!

Sensory Friendly Friday- Another characteristic of Autism is sensitivity to certain clothes, light or sounds. Today you are encouraged to wear your comfiest clothes. Teachers today will use as little fluorescent lighting as possible and encourage students to use indoor voices as much as possible.
