PRINCIPAL’S PAWSE
I would like to wish everyone a happy and safe holiday season. I would
also like to thank all of the parents who have begun using the car ramp to
drop their children off. We've really begun to see an improvement!
We'll see you back on January 7th.

MEDIA CENTER NEWS
Wanda Phares, our Media Specialist, would like to send a special thanks to
the wonderful parents that helped make our book fair so successful by
volunteering your time!

KIDS TALK! New Local TV Show
The Leon County District Media Center is sponsoring a TV program
called “Kids Talk!” Local media specialists and students from participating
elementary schools are sitting around discussing the Sunshine State Books
for 3rd-5th graders on Comcast Cable Channel 23, Wireless One Channel 30.
Our 5th grader, Sacoia Sapp represented Chaires last week on the first
show! Sacoia made us so proud with her insightful comments on the book,
Francie. Next month’s show will spotlight the book, Gracie’s Girl. We’ll be
selecting another student to represent Chaires, so 3rd-5th graders make
sure you’ve read Gracie’s Girl! The February show will spotlight the book,
Crossing Jordan, which deals with race relations and takes place here in
Tallahassee.

CROSSING JORDAN AUTHOR COMING TO CHAIRES ON JANUARY 21ST
Chaires is so fortunate in that Adrian Fogelin, the author of Crossing
Jordan, will be visiting 4 classes here on Tuesday, January 21st!!! Mark
your calendars now, as Mrs. Fogelin will also be here at the PTO meeting on
the evening of January 21st to discuss writing with parents and students.
She’ll autograph her books after the talk! You won’t want to miss this
exceptional opportunity.

PTO MEETING – JANUARY 21ST
The next PTO meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, January 21st at 5:30pm in
the Media Center. The topic for the meeting is “FAMILY WRITING NIGHT”. This
is the night we will have Adrian Fogelin, the author of “Crossing Jordan”
here with us to discuss writing with parents and students. Please mark your
calendars!

MOVING OVER THE HOLIDAYS?
We do know that during the holidays, families tend to relocate. If you are
planning to move over the holidays, please notify the school at least 2-3
days ahead of time so that the proper paperwork can be processed. If you
have any questions regarding this, please feel free to call the office at
878-8534.

LOST AND FOUND
We have many items in the lost and found located in the cafeteria. All lost
and found items need to be picked up before the winter holiday, which
begins December 21st. All items left after this date will be donated
to “COATS FOR KIDS”.

SPECIAL OLYMPICS
Congratulations to Devin Sass for winning a silver medal in bowling at the
State Indoor Special Olympics competition that was held recently in Daytona
Beach. GREAT JOB, DEVIN!
