Hi Everyone,

We would like to Welcome you back to another Wonderful Year at "The Park"! This year we are under some construction at school (so to speak) where our teachers and staff are going to be working hard at "Building Great Minds" in our students!

Please remember that the lines of communication are so important between you and your child's teacher. It is very important that you make sure that they have your up-to-date phone numbers and email address. If they ever change during the year, please make sure you notify the teacher, the front office, and change them in your FOCUS parent portal.
The FOCUS Parent Portal is also another IMPORTANT place for you to be aware of. Not only is this where up to date information is found, but every year you MUST go in and refill out some of the yearly paperwork on your child and agree that Health Forms are updated, and where you will view your child's report cards.

Today's email is to inform you about another IMPORTANT form in FOCUS this year which is the process of checking out books in the school Media Center or having access to/Checking Out the books in your child's Classroom Library. Please read below:


In accordance with HB 1069 (2023), Leon County School Board has approved the attached process for those parents that would like to limit their child’s access to media center and classroom libraries.



Parents that want to LIMIT their child’s access to books in the Media Center or to the books that their child can read in their Teacher's Classroom Library will need to complete the Parent/guardian Permission form in the FOCUS portal or print and fill out the attached form, or fill out the form your child will be bringing home on Friday, August 11th and return it to the school's Principal. LCS plans to open Media Centers for student check out on Monday, August 14th. If you plan to limit your child’s access, please complete the form as soon as possible. The directions for completing the form in FOCUS are attached as are the directions for how you will be notified from the school when your child wants to check-out books from either the school or classroom library.


IF YOU WOULD LIKE YOUR CHILD TO HAVE FULL & OPEN ACCESS TO ALL MEDIA CENTER AND CLASSROOM LIBRARIES, NO FURTHER ACTION IS NEEDED. The form is ONLY if you are limiting access.
