Just a reminder that school choice will END at 5:00pm on Friday, March 1, 2024, for the 24-25 school year. You must submit your application through the Parent Portal in FOCUS before 5:00pm. Please read through the directions
before calling the school or district office for help.
This is especially important for ALL 5th grade parents
as you MUST provide proof of Residence by the end of this school year upon promotion to Middle School regardless of school choice.
Time to apply for School Choice for your Sweet Students
The application can be found in your
FOCUS PARENT PORTAL.
You can apply for up to three magnet programs, or two magnet programs and one controlled open enrollment school. You will be notified in your FOCUS Parent
Portal by March 31 and you must accept or decline your approved school, by April 19th.
A few reasons to apply for school choice:
1. Pre-K going to kindergarten and you don’t live in the school zone;
2. You want to change schools;
3. Your student is going from elementary to middle or middle to high school; or
4. You have a new sibling/new student that you want to go to the same school (you must be the legal guardian to apply).
There is NO documentation needed to apply for School Choice—just create and/or log-in to your Focus parent portal and you will see the School Choice application.
5th and 8th Grade Students ONLY
Proofs of Residence
1. Parents: All 5th and 8th grade students must provide current proof of residence
upon promotion. Proof of Residency should include one of
#1 and
one of
#2 listed below:
#1 Lease, Mortgage statement, Homestead Exemption Card, or Property Tax
#2 Utility Bill, Driver’s License, Vehicle Registration, Government Mail or
Medical Bill/Insurance Statement
This will not affect your school choice.
If you move, you will need to email or take your new proof of residence to your
current school, or upon enrollment.
