NO SCHOOL Today!

There is no school on today. It is a teacher planning day. School will resume on tomorrow, Tuesday October 17th. Welcome to the 2nd 9 weeks!

 

This Week

 

2nd Nine Weeks Begins

Tuesday marks the 1st day of the 2nd Nine Weeks grading period! Report cards for the 1st nine weeks will be available October 25th!

 

Non-College Reportable ACT (Invitation Only)

The Non-College Reportable ACT on Tuesday October 17th is for juniors and seniors ONLY who haven’t met the graduation testing requirements. Please ensure they have had a good night’s sleep, a good breakfast and arrive to school ON TIME. NCR-ACT testing will be conducted all day in the media center.

 

Senior Parent Night

The Senior Parent Night is Tuesday, October 17th at 6pm in the media center.

 

Volleyball Game

The SAIL vs. Crossroads Academy Volleyball Game is Wednesday October 18th @ 5:00 in the gym.

 

World of Works (WOW)

On Friday, our 9th graders will be participating in the county-wide field trip, World of Works (WOW) at Lively Technical College. The primary goal of this field trip is to help students explore different career paths and better understand the options available to them after graduating high school.  Only students who have submitted their permission slips will be able to attend. Please make sure your student arrives to school ON TIME. Field trip buses will not wait for late arrivals.

 

LCS Goes Pink!

In an effort to raise awareness for breast cancer, Leon County Schools are going pink this Friday, October 20th. LCS faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to wear pink

 

Message from Drama Club

The drama club is hoping to receive donations for the following items.

 

  • Fake Flowers (Need enough to make five flower crowns). 
  • Old Hard Cover Books
  • Sorting Hat
  • French Flag

 

Please drop donated items off in the front office. Drama Club thanks you in advance.

Congratulations to SHS' Glenn-Howell Distinguished Educator of the Year, Ms. Danielle Henry!!!

Danielle’s love and compassion for her students, expertise in teaching, and being a great SAIL colleague to the community shows every day. Thank you for all that you do, and congratulations on being recognized by your fellow colleagues.

 

Congratulations to SHS' School Related Employee of the Year, Ms. Jasmine Delaine!!!

Jasmine is always there for her students and is ready and willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She is a great team player and an important member of the SAIL community. Thank you, Jasmine, and congratulations.

 

Blood Drive (Sponsored by SGA - Flyer Attached)

SAIL is having a blood drive on Monday, October 23rd. Students must be 16 years-old to donate and a parent consent form is necessary for any 16-year-old donor. For donors 17+ permission forms are not needed. Sign-up and permissions forms are located in the main office.

 

PINK OUT Volleyball Game

It’s the FINAL volleyball game of the year on October 25th! Let’s come out and support our volleyball team and wear pink in support of breast cancer awareness. It’s a PINK OUT y’all!

 

 

Movie Nights (Sponsored by SGA)

Every Wednesday in October a movie will be shown in the media center for $1 right after school.

 

 

Friday Frights (Sponsored by SGA)

Each Friday for the month of October, students will have the opportunity to participate in dress up days! October 20th is Salty Spitoon vs. Weenie Hut Jr (Cutesy vs Tough)! For more information, see the attached flyer.

 

 

Friday Festival (Sponsored by SGA)

Fall Festival tickets are on sale in the front office for $5. See attached flyer below with QR Code to purchase tickets.

 

 

Senior News

Senior Fee is $80. Please see the attached Senior Fee letter for more information.

Senior Meeting and Field Day is November 9th.

Cap and Gown Picture Day is November 15th.

Senior T-shirt design is due November 30th.

$200 is due toward Grad Bash on March 1st.

Grad Bash is April 20th. More information will be coming soon!

 

Tutoring Services

If you are interested in your child receiving additional academic support, tutoring is available on Mondays and Thursdays after school in the media center until 3:30 pm. Students can get help in all core classes (and some electives), work on group assignments, study independently, and utilize school technology.

Testing Updates

  • October 24th 25th  PSAT/NMSQT – All Sophomores (Juniors may sign up and pay associated fee)
  • October 25th Final Volleyball Game of the Season at 5:00pm in the gym.

·        October 26th  SAT NCR by Invitation Only

·        October 28th  Saturday ACT (Registration Deadline 9/22; Late Registration Deadline 10/6)

·        November 4th - Saturday SAT (Registration Deadline 10/5; Late Registration Deadline 10/24)

 

Reminder

If you have questions or concerns about your student's grades or progress in a specific class, your initial contact should be with your student's teacher. Teachers are always the most knowledgeable about classroom assignments and activities and are always happy to provide timely updates or clarification as needed. For the quickest response time, send an email.
