Absences for illness:

If your student is sick and needs to recover at home, please email the front office that your child will not be in attendance. [log in to unmask]

 

Absences for travel:

We understand family trips are valued.  Please keep in mind that absences for travel, stating the educational purpose of the trip, must be pre-arranged with the teacher as well as approved by the PRINCIPAL (LCS Code of Conduct pg. 40).  Work packets for a trip are no substitution for quality classroom instruction.  When students return from being out for extended periods of time, teachers must find time to re-teach and give assessments that were missed. Once the student is current in their academic standing with all make-up work and assessments completed, then attendance will be adjusted in FOCUS.  Please do all you can to plan travel outside of the school day.  This includes Fridays.  Teaching occurs until the end of the day on Friday and students who leave early are missing valuable instruction time.
