Hello SAIL Community,

I hope everyone had a good first week back to school.  It was great seeing new to SAIL students and our returning students back on campus.  During these first two days of school teachers reviewed school and classroom policies and procedures, we had grade level meeting groups, and even a chance for students to sign up for clubs.  We are excited about all of the activities and events being planned this year so please encourage your student to get involved!

Below are a few upcoming events and announcements –

Chromebook Distribution – We will begin distributing Chromebooks on Tuesday, August 15th.  Students are expected to bring their fully charged Chromebook each day.

Schedule Change Request Forms – These were distributed today for students to review and submit for a possible schedule change.  As a small school it is often difficult to move schedules around to accommodate every request.  Students that have scheduling errors or need a class added to meet a graduation requirement will be handled fist.  Students must follow their current schedule in FOCUS until they can meet with a counselor to discuss any possible options.

Summer Reading Symposium -  We will have our Summer Reading Symposium on Friday, August, 25th.  Students will meet in reading groups based on which book they read and share their projects.  This is another great opportunity to connect and get to know other students on campus that have similar interests.

Lunch – As a reminder, SAIL is part of the Community Eligibility Program, meaning all students receive a free breakfast and lunch.  Students will also have the option to purchase additional food items from the lunchroom using the new SchoolCafe app.  Please visit the District Nutrition Services page for more information, including Special Dietary Needs Form, Food Menus, SchoolCafe account Setup: https://www.leonschools.net/Nutrition.  Please note that outside food delivery services are NOT allowed to school campus.  If a student forgets their lunch, do not worry! They will have a free one waiting for them in the cafeteria!

Off Campus Lunch – Provided parent permission, students that are classified as a Junior or Senior based on earned credits in FOCUS may leave campus during lunch.  Students were provided forms to take home and have signed.  Students that have a returned signed form and meet the grade level requirements may leave campus next week during lunch.  If there is inclement weather in the area we will hold all students on campus for lunch.

Parking On Campus – Students with a drivers license and insurance may park on campus.  Attached is a parking application.  Students must display their issued parking pass while parked on campus.

Anonymous Alerts App – This is an app that is available for anonymously reporting incidents to Administration.  Anonymous Alerts along with the state-wide system – Fortify Florida, allows students or parents to notify Administration of any concerns.  Our number one priority is student safety so please reach out to us directly with any concerns.

Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

Sincerely,
