Dear Parents and Guardians,
Our first couple days of school have been awesome! We have completed our scheduling process. Since we are towards the end of enrolling students for this school year, we are now working on balancing classes
that are too large or too small and reviewing schedule correction requests that were submitted by the deadline. Those requests for schedule changes will be limited and situational only. Please see below for a reminder of examples of acceptable and unacceptable
schedule changes. Acceptable Schedule changes are:
Unacceptable Schedule changes:
Our guidance counselors are working diligently reviewing schedule correction forms and we are striving to complete the schedule correction process by Friday, August 25, 2023. If you have any questions about scheduling, please contact me at 850-414-5500 or e-mail our Guidance Counselors at

Science Teacher Spotlight: Ms. Dana Fields has been teaching science for 21 years- all of them at Rickards High School! Her daughter graduated from the IB program at Rickards before heading off to earn her bachelor's degree from Princeton. Before teaching
at Rickards Ms. Fields was actually Captain Fields and spent 8 years in the Air Force and has worked in industry and academia. She has a master's degree in Chemical Oceanography from FSU. Ms. Fields is also the sponsor of Key Club which is a national service-based
organization at Rickards. We love to joke with Ms. Fields because she lives on a "farm". She is a true animal lover and currently has 7 dogs, 8 cats, 6 goats, 2 box turtles, 1 mud turtle, 2 gerbils, 2 hamsters, 3 rats (yes pet rats!), and too many fowl (ducks,
chickens and geese) to count. Key Club will have an interest meeting this week- 8/22- Tuesday at lunch
in room 1912. Science Olympiad
will have their interest meeting this week- 8/23- Wednesday at Lunch in room 1931. Science Fair will have a MANDATORY interest meeting next week- 8/29- Tuesday
at Lunch in room 1931. Science Classes in action this coming week: Ms. Fields: HL Chem seniors will be creating and standardizing solutions. AP Enviornmental Science students will be planting grass! Ms. Figueroa: Pre-IB Chemistry students will be learning how to use Bunsen Burners without setting the building on fire and will be bending glass! Dr. Hall: General AP Biology students will be exploring the properties of water. IB Biology and 6th period AP Biology students will be learning about the chemicals that make the body function. |
