Did you know April is Autism Awareness/Acceptance Month? Autism, or autism spectrum disorder (ASD), refers to a broad range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication. According to the CDC, autism affects an estimated 1 in 36 children across the United States today.
To learn more, check out Autism Speaks -- a non-profit organization that seeks to educate and increase awareness about autism.

Tuesday, April 4 - National School Librarian Day

Your school librarian does so many things each day that you may never know have happened…all with a smile on her face.

Research has shown that an effective school librarian who is able to curate a collection, collaborate with faculty, teach developing readers, as well as organize school programming can impact a school’s grade by one full level. Take the time to show some love and appreciation to our school media specialist, Emily Bell! thank you emails, cards, or even a smile and verbal thanks are all appreciated!


Wednesday, April 5 - Cap & Gown Retakes
Any seniors who needed to retake cap & gown photos will be allowed to do so on Wednesday, April 5. If you have questions, contact our main office during office hours and we will be happy to assist!

Friday, April 7 - NO SCHOOL - Districtwide Holiday
Enjoy a 3-day weekend! All district offices and campuses will be closed on Friday, April 7.





LeonWORKS Junior Apprenticeships Program - April 28

The Leon Works Junior Apprenticeship Program is presenting an information EXPO (and free lunch!) at the Donald L. Tucker Convention Center from 8 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. on Friday, April 28, 2023 for local high school juniors and seniors to learn about post-secondary college, and vocational and career options in Leon County through experiential learning. SAIL will be taking our entire 11th/12th grade cohorts to this exciting event. The link above will give you more information about the history of the event and the opportunities presented. 



Summer School Dates/Offerings

Leon County Schools will once again be offering summer school for students that need to recover required graduation credits.  This will be for students that are missing credits and need to stay on track for graduation.  Transportation will be provided – More information to follow regarding start and end times.
