Parents and Guardians, The Leon County Schools’ Title I Office is administering the Parent and Family Engagement Survey for Spring 2023. The survey allows our school and our district’s Title I Office to understand the
aspects of the parent/family and school relationship. The information gathered will be used to guide continual improvement within our school to better serve you and our students. The survey administration period is Monday, April 10, 2023 through Friday, May 19, 2023. The Parent and Family Engagement Survey is available online and by paper in English, Spanish, Haitian Creole, Swahili, and Arabic.
Parents/guardians can select their language preference by clicking on the appropriate link or QR code. Paper surveys may be used for parents/guardians who are unable to access a computer or device with internet connection.

Absences
are excused by LCS District for the following reasons:

Students show up! Do your best and ACE the test!
Students need to bring their Chromebook fully charged and their charger for these tests. PERT Testing
The PERT used to qualify for Dual Enrollment, will be offered on the days listed below. Dual Enrollment requires a 3.0 minimum GPA and completion of Algebra
2 in order to take a math through Dual Enrollment. The PERT test is accepted by TCC and FAMU. It is not accepted by FSU for Dual Enrollment.

Dr. Williams in his office to pick up these items. Thank you to all the parents who helped make our IB Senior Celebration such a tremendous success. The food was delicious, and it was a pleasure seeing our IB seniors and their families together for this
event. IB/AP Exam Schedule:
Please see the attached IB/AP Exam Schedule for May 2023. TCC has once again graciously agreed to host our IB and AP Exams this spring, and we are grateful to them for their continuing support of our school and our students!
Please see the attached map for directions to the specific building in which we’ll be testing and the parking lot students and parents should use during IB and AP exams. IB students need to remember that they must complete all IB Exam Papers for the subjects
in which they are taking their exams this year. 2022 IB Diplomas and Transcripts are in:
The 2022 IB Diplomas and IB Transcripts have arrived from Cardiff, Wales, UK. 2022 IB graduates or their parents can pick them up from Dr. Williams in the front office at Rickards. Please email or call ahead so Dr.
Williams can leave your IB Diploma and/or IB Transcript at the front office for you, in case he is not available when you come to campus.

Rising IB Juniors/Seniors that want to take IB Chemistry SL/HL next year- It is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to contact Ms. Figueroa
([log in to unmask]) for your summer homework packet before 2:45pm on May 19th. Mrs. Dobb's Anatomy and Physiology students are playing with brains! They are learning all about the parts of the brain with their hands on sheep brain dissection. Ms. Figueroa's Chemistry students are conducting a CER lab and investigating how iron synthesizes with oxygen. Mr. Dignan's Biology students have been all thumbs lately. They are working on an adaptation lab where they try to perform tasks using only their thumbs vs no thumbs at
all. They will soon learn how important our apposable thumbs are. All IB and AP Science classes are busy reviewing material for exams which start May 1st- DON'T FORGET YOUR CALCULATORS FOR THE EXAMS. AP Chemistry- May 1st AP Environmental Science- May 2nd IB Physics- May 2nd and

AP and IB exams begin next week! Below are the social studies exams taking place next week. All exams are on TCCs campus. Students should arrive no later than 30 minutes before their exam start time. Transportation
is provided ONLY for the AP US History exam. If students plan to ride the bus they should return the transportation letter that was previously sent home.

AP Exams begin next week (the schedule is attached to this message). Below is information regarding AP Exam testing:
You should bring the following items to the exam room in no larger than a gallon
size zip lock bag or a clear stadium bag:
·
Up to two approved calculators with the necessary capabilities if you are taking an AP Biology, Calculus, Chemistry,
Environmental Science, Physics, or Statistics Exam only. Visit
AP Exams Calculator Policy to learn more about the calculator policy for each of these
exams and for a list of authorized calculators.
·
A ruler or straightedge only if you are taking an AP Physics Exam. Protractors are not allowed.
·
Pens (black or dark blue ink) and No. 2 pencils will be provided (you may bring your own-no mechanical pencils)
·
A Jacket/Sweater/Sweatshirt (some rooms are kept very cool).
·
A small, healthy snack and water to drink during a brief break during the test session.
You should not bring the following items to the exam:
·
Phones, smartwatches, wearable technology of any kind, laptops, tablet computers, Bluetooth devices, portable listening
or recording devices—MP3 player, iPod®, etc.—cameras or photographic equipment, devices that can access the internet, separate timers of any type, and any other electronic devices are prohibited in the exam room and during breaks. School-owned digital
recording devices are allowed only for the AP French, German, Italian, and Spanish Language and Culture Exams and the AP Music Theory Exam.
·
Books/Book Bags, compasses, correction fluid, dictionaries, highlighters, notes, or mechanical or colored pencils
·
Rulers or straightedges (these are allowed only for AP Physics Exams), protractors, Scratch paper, Computers,
Reference guides, keyboard maps, or other typing instructions, Calculators (unless it’s an approved calculator for AP Biology, Calculus, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Physics, or Statistics), Clothing or shoes with subject-related information, Ear plugs,
Clipboards Arrival Time:
Approximate pick up time is Noon for 8 AM exam administrations and 4:00 for Noon exam administrations for
most students. |
