Hello Hawks Rise Parents,

This week was especially sweet as we were able to see our students sharing their Valentines with each other and showing love for the faculty and staff!  Thank you to PTO for our yummy treats Monday—what a great way to start the week.   You may have also heard your children saying, “There is no heart without art!”  Thank you to Mrs. Mariscal for the wonderful sidewalk chalk art with messages of love that she and several 5^th graders shared with us.

Our 4^th graders  visited St. Augustine this past Thursday, and I was so happy to join them on this educational trip.  I also enjoyed hearing  the many guides tell us how wonderful our students were during the presentations!

 

Reminders:

• There is no school Monday, February 20, as we celebrate Presidents’ Day.
• Next week, our focus skill will be Attentiveness—listening to others and staying focused.
• There are 2 weeks left to complete the 30 Book Challenge! March 1st is the deadline.  After reading each book, students should color in the corresponding square on their bookmark for the category and list the book title on the back. Students in grade 1^st – 5^th grade should read books in their range and take the AR quizzes. Students who complete the challenge by the deadline will attend a pizza party on March 3^rd. They will also have the opportunity to throw water balloons at Mrs. Martin, Mr. Wise, Mrs. Tamplin, and Mrs. Van Hise! This challenge is separate from AR goals. Students will be rewarded for making their 3^rd quarter goals by the classroom teachers.
• Don’t forget the Silent Auction is next Friday, February 24.
• We are continuing with our celebration of Black History Month.  I hope you are tuning into the morning news to hear our Black History Trivia questions.  Winners are announced daily and receive a prize for their correct answer.
