To our District community –

Being in the state capital there are many opportunities for our students to participate in off-campus civic events at the request of their parents.

As a follow- up to an email sent on February 14, 2023, please see the paragraph below:

Should a parent/legal guardian choose to allow their student to participate in a civic or legislative event, they should follow LCS attendance policies (LCS Policy 5200) and procedures and sign their student out from school, and/or notify the school of the expected absence and the reason for the absence. These absences will be excused upon request. Please contact your student’s school with any questions.

To further clarify, Leon County Schools does not support or endorse any particular political agenda or event.

Sincerely,

Superintendent Hanna and the Superintendent’s Leadership Team
