Hello Hawks Rise Families, We were happy to see our Hawks back on campus this past week, and we're looking forward to a productive January! Please see below for school information. * We will begin our midyear progress monitoring assessments (FAST) next week. PreK-2nd will be completing their ELA assessments throughout the week. 4th and 5th grade students will take their ELA assessment on Wednesday, January 11. 3rd grade students will take their ELA assessment on Thursday, January 12. We are excited to review this new data so that we can determine student growth and can plan for the remainder of the year. * Parents can access their student's Individual Student Reports for FAST grades 3-10 via the state's Family Portal. The reports for Grades 3-10 should populate there approximately a day or two after the student tests. Parents can access the state's Family Portal via the FOCUS Parent Portal by clicking the [cid:image002.png@01D9107A.857B38C0] icon on the right side of their screen next to each student. * Our 2nd -5th graders will have their next Principal's Book Chat on January 31, and we will be reading On the Wings of Heroes by Richard Peck. We have 20 copies in the media center for students to check out, but we are asking students to return the book after 7 days so that other students have the opportunity to check one out. * The students have voted! Movie Night is March 24 and the movie will be........Minions, the Rise of Gru!!! Add it to your calendar! * 3rd Quarter Reading Challenge --For the next reading challenge, students are encouraged to read 30 books on a variety of genres. After reading each book, students should color in the corresponding square on their bookmark for the category and list the book title on the back. Students in grade 1st - 5th grade should read books in their range and take the AR quizzes. The challenge runs from December 17 - March 1st. Students who complete the challenge by the deadline will attend a pizza party on March 3rd. They will also have the opportunity to throw water balloons at Mrs. Martin, Mr. Wise, Mrs. Tamplin, and Mrs. Van Hise! This challenge is separate from AR goals. Students will be rewarded for making their 3rd quarter goals by the classroom teachers.
