Parents and Guardians,

Happy Sunday.  I hope you are enjoying this gorgeous weather.

Attached is an invitation to tomorrow’s share day at Sweet Frog.  Meet up with some Hawks Rise Friends for a delicious treat.

Attached is a survey for the City of Tallahassee.  We are applying for a grant from the National Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program for streets in the Summerbrooke and Ox Bottom subdivisions where Hawks Rise Elementary is located. The submittal is seeking grant funding for construction of a new sidewalk along Heritage Ridge Road (from Meadow Ridge Drive to Summerbrooke Drive). This is a nationally funded program by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) administered through the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).  This survey is coming home with your student.  Thank you for your time with this.

October is anti-bullying month.  Our guidance team is hosting a “Be the I in Kind” campaign.  This campaign will include filling students buckets on grade level posters in the cafeteria.  Buckets are “filled” by noting kind acts with a post it notes on the poster.  Please discuss kindness with your student at home as well.

Social-Emotional Learning Virtual Event for Parents: Positive Self-Management Skills: Focusing on Resiliency  Friday, October 28, 6:00 - 7:00 PM: This mini webinar will provide parents with resources to support students in Grades K-5 in developing social emotional learning awareness connected to classroom practices. Resiliency and positive coping strategies through the reframing of negative thinking will be the focus of this webinar. Ideas will be shared linked to Children’s Literature by utilizing Read-Alouds as a springboard for conversations aligned to the importance of reframing negative thoughts to positive self-talk.  More information can be found here: Events Calendar | Saint Leo University
