Helpful hints- You are permitted 4 waivers for the ACT and 2 waivers for the SAT during your entire high school career. You must be classified as a junior or senior to utilize a

The PSAT/NMSQT (or National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) is a preliminary version of the
SAT. Not only does the PSAT help prepare students to take the SAT or ACT, a great score on the PSAT can also open the door to National Merit Scholarships and other awards. The PSAT will be administered to all 10th-grade students free of charge. 9th,
11th grade, and non-Rickards students wanting to take the PSAT may register to take the exam. The cost of the exam is $18.00. Registration and payment for the exam can be completed through our e-funds system-https://payments.efundsforschools.com/v3/districts/56392. 10th
grade students are automatically registered for this test.
Registration is September 1 thru September 30. Study packets for sophomores will be distributed in their English class. Study packets for other students may be picked up in the main office. Students are to bring
# 2 pencils and an approved calculator (listed in practice book). Mrs. J. Goodman |

Dr. P. Hall
Science Department Chair |
This week we are featuring Ms. Figueroa and her Chemistry classes. Pre IB chemistry students
explored the Non-Newtonian fluid called Oobleck. They used hands on investigating and observations to understand the
physical properties of the Oobleck and designed a model to explain how the atoms interacted with any pressure applied.
It was messy fun that helped them explain the states of matter and how atoms behave. IB chemistry Juniors learned how to safety operate Bunsen burners and performed synthesis reactions to determine empirical and molecular formulas. |
