Tomorrow, August 10, 2022, is our first day of the 2022-23 school year. We are excited and eager to see all our students when the bell rings at 8:30 in the morning. Parents, remember to follow the procedures for drop off and pick up below.

If your child will be going home a different way other than how they were dropped off in the morning, please tell them and send a note to the teacher.

Astoria Park                      NEW Drop off/Dismissal Procedures

Car-Rider Procedures

Parents, your help is needed to ensure car drop-off and pick-up is safe for all students. NOTE:  Student supervision starts at 7:45 a.m. and ends at 3:20 p.m. We understand that mornings can get rushed, especially when there is inclement weather, and we have a long line at car pick-up.  Be patient. We have established procedures for student drop-off in the mornings and dismissal in the afternoon. Help us by having your child ready to exit on the passenger side of the car. Please remember to always follow these safety procedures.

ALL CAR RIDERS MUST USE THE CAR TAGS PROVIDED.  PLACE THE CAR TAGS ON YOUR REARVIEW MIRROR WITH STUDENT’S NAME AND GRADE LEVEL DISPLAYED.

  1. Stay in your car and use the car line to drop off your student.  DO NOT PARK ON THE STREET AND WALK YOUR CHILD IN. IT IS NOT SAFE!   YOU WILL RECEIVE A CITATION Student safety is a PRIORITY.
  2. Please do not use/talk on your cell phone when you are using the car pick-up/drop-off lane. Distracted drivers can make huge mistakes and not see a child.
  3. Pull all the way forward, to the designated staff on duty, students should enter/exit on passenger side of vehicle.  Student safety is a PRIORITY.
  4. Pull SLOWLY away from school as other vehicles are passing.

Due to COVID protocols, parents are not allowed on campus to walk students to class.  You MUST drop off and pick up student(s) from the car drop-off/pick up line.  Please contact the front office if you have questions. Thank you for putting the safety of all students first.

Details for Morning and Afternoon drop-off (front of the school): Supervision begins at 7:45 AM. and ends at 3:20. Students WILL NOT be supervised before this time.   In order to utilize the drop-off lane safely, your child(ren) must exit the passenger side of your car in the drop off lane only. They should not use the driver's side of the car as they may be in the path of oncoming vehicles. Students are not to be dropped off in the “through lane.” It is also important that you pull as far forward in the drop-offline in order for your child(ren) to exit the car. Once your vehicle stops in the area of the metal railing your students may exit the vehicle.  The parking lot is not intended for child drop-off or pick-up.

Have car-tags visible with student(s) name and grade level(s) clearly displayed

Supervision ends at 3:20 p.m.  Students who have not been picked up will go to the front office. Parents/Guardians will need to park and come to the office to pick up their child(ren.)

Walkers/Bikers:

Walkers coming from Hartsfield Road - Students will cross Hartsfield Road at Atlas Road using the “Crossing Guard” on duty.  Students should then walk down the sidewalk to the staff person on duty, enter the gate, walk through the playground towards the school staff at the front of the school.  School staff will direct students to the cafeteria. At dismissal, students will walk the same way back home.

Walkers coming from Portland Avenue – Students should walk down the bus ramp towards the front of the school to the school staff at the front of the school. In the afternoon students will walk home using the same route.

Pre-K Drop off/Dismissal

Pre-K Drop off/Dismissal is located at the back of the school: Only parents of Pre-K students are allowed to drop students off between 7:45am – 8:25am. Pre-K parents are given a car tag that must be displayed on the car rear view mirror in order to enter the back-parking lot. Dismissal time for Pre-K students is 2:40 pm – 3:15 pm.

REMINDER: All car-riders must come through the car drop-off line in the morning and the dismissal line in the afternoon.  Parents DO NOT PARK to walk your child in. Stay in the car and drive through the drop off line where staff will be standing.

Safety is our first priority and your cooperation and help is needed to ensure all students are safe. Thank you for your support.

We are off to a fantastic “panther-rific” school year!
