Our Annual Title 1 Curriculum Night Workshop will be held on April 14, 2022, at 6pm, in the Cafeteria for all rising 9th - 12th student, (current 8th grade students are encourage to attend). During this workshop, we will provide information and answer any questions/concerns about our Academic, Extracurricular, and Athletic Programs.

Most importantly, we will provide guidance on how to select and complete the course request form in FOCUS for the 2022-2023 school year. Healthy snacks will be provided.

Quarter 3 Report Cards were uploaded to Parent and Student FOCUS. Students and parents are not able to view Quarter 3 final grades.  Report Cards are available to view on the FOCUS. If you have any questions about your child's grades, please contact your child's teacher.

Parents and Guardians, if your student has been nominated by his/her teacher for the Raider's IMAGE Award, you are cordially invited to attend our IMAGE Award Ceremony, April 14, 2022, at 8:00 a.m., RHS Media Center. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Varn, IB Dean

The 2022-2023 Student Course Request forms completion and submission date has been changed. Students, parents, and guardians, will be notified when a new date has been confirmed. Students who did not complete and return their Course Request Form, before or on due date, courses will be selected by their assigned counselor. If you have any questions about the 2022-2023 Course Request Form, please contact Mrs. Terraca Jones, Guidance Department Head, at 850-414-5500.

Rickards Curriculum Night: We hope to see you at the Rickards Curriculum Night on Thursday, April 14, 2022, from 6 pm to 7 pm, in the Rickards Cafeteria.  Our Administration, Guidance Counselors, and IB Administrative Team will be there to explain the course request process for students attending Rickards during the 2022-2023 school year and to answer any curriculum questions students and parents have.  Rising 9th grade students and their parents are welcome to attend, and we especially encourage rising 11th grade IB students and their parents to attend, as these students will be selecting their Higher Level and Standard Level IB subjects to complete during their junior and senior years.



IB CAS Recognition/Induction Night: We welcome all parents of IB seniors and juniors to come to the IB CAS Recognition/Induction Night on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, from 6 pm to 7 pm, in the Rickards Auditorium, where we recognize our IB Seniors for completing their CAS requirements, recognize our IB juniors who are going to advance to candidacy as IB seniors for the 2022-2023 school year, and recognize our Pre-IB sophomores who are going to enter the IB Diploma Program as IB juniors for the 2022-2023 school year.

You will be taking your AP Exam(s) in May. If you are scheduled to take an IB/EOC/FSA exam on the same date as the standard AP exam, you have been moved to the AP Late Testing date (see MYAP to confirm test date). Attached is the exam schedule. Review it carefully. If you see any discrepancies, please contact me immediately. You should bring the following items to the exam room:

  *   Up to two approved calculators with the necessary capabilities if you are taking an AP Biology, Calculus, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Physics, or Statistics Exam only.   *   Phones, smartwatches, wearable technology of any kind, laptops, tablet computers, Bluetooth devices, portable listening or recording devices-MP3 player, iPod(r), etc.-cameras or photographic equipment, devices that can access the internet, separate timers of any type, and any other electronic devices are prohibited in the exam room and during breaks. School-owned digital recording devices are allowed only for the AP French, German, Italian, and Spanish Language and Culture Exams and the AP Music Theory Exam.
  *   Books, compasses, correction fluid, dictionaries, highlighters, notes, or mechanical or colored pencils
  *   Rulers or straightedges (these are allowed only for AP Physics Exams)
  *   Protractors
  *   Scratch paper
  *   Computers
  *   Reference guides, keyboard maps, or other typing instructions
  *   Calculators (unless it's an approved calculator for AP Biology, Calculus, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Physics, or Statistics)
  *   Watches
  *   Food or drink
  *   Clothing or shoes with subject-related information
  *   Ear plugs
  *   Clipboards

You are required to arrive at the testing site 30 minutes prior to your exam: 7:30 a.m. for the 8AM morning administration and 11:30 a.m. for the 12PM afternoon administration. Students may not be dismissed until an exam has officially ended; therefore, please do not ask to leave early if you finish before the end of the exam. If you play a sport or have a job, it is your responsibility to inform your coach or employer of your AP Exam obligation, and arrangements should be made accordingly.

Get a good night's rest before your exam and eat a nutritious breakfast. You are allowed to bring a snack and beverage to the testing site for your 10-minute break. However, food and drinks are prohibited in the exam room. It is advisable to bring a sweater, in case the room temperature is below your comfort level.

You are required to abide by the policies of both the College Board and James S. Rickards High School during the exam period. Any misconduct will be reported and could jeopardize your AP Exam score. Since this activity is occurring off-campus, you will need to provide your own transportation to and from the testing site. However, transportation will be provided for on May 6 for the AP US History exam and May 11 for the AP Biology exam.  Please email Dr. McNeil ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>) or your teacher if you need transportation on May 6 and/or May 11. Please note that you are not required to attend school on the day of your exam(s) unless you use school transportation on May 6 and May 11.  An attendance roster will be published for the school prior to and after an exam for attendance purposes.

Summer Youth Training Program



Leon County Government is now accepting applications for the Summer Youth Training Program. The Summer Youth Training Program is a five-week program in which youth gain job experience by working with a Leon County department.

Including Community and Media Relations, Volunteer Services, Emergency Medical Services, Library Services and more. All positions are 20 hours per week and pay $10 per hour.
