PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Hello Cardinal Families!
I can't believe that we are almost to the end of the first semester. This year has been full of ups and downs, but our Cardinal Family has remained strong and focused.
We have only 12 more school days in 2021. All of our days will be regular school days. We will have no early release days during December. Also, just a reminder, school will be closed from December 20th-January 4th. There is a teacher planning day on Tuesday, January 4th, and students will return to campus on Wednesday, January 5th.
I've had some ask what we need at school. Besides continued support and love from home, we can always use hand sanitizer and Clorox wipes. We are still working extra hard to keep things clean and sanitized to keep our students safe.
We have had to postpone our Pik My Kid implementation. We are having some technical difficulties, and we need some additional time. We are looking to roll out the system in full effect on Tuesday, January 18th. Until then, please notify the office of any transportation changes.
A few reminders...
Dismissal is on a staggered schedule. K-2 is at 2:40, and 3-5 is at 2:50. We are getting faster and more efficient and are brainstorming ways to improve the process even more.

Happy Holidays from COE PTO!
We wrapped up our first major fundraiser of the year right after the Thanksgiving break. YOU all raised over $2800 for our school selling a Tallahassee favorite: Lucky Goat coffee. Great job, Cardinals!
Special thank you to Jennifer Carter for organizing, collecting, and distributing for this fundraiser.
In addition to this marvelous fundraiser, we have begun to have a presence on campus by providing snacks and drinks for monthly faculty meetings-much gratitude to Lisa Cherry for coordinating this. Be on the lookout for other opportunities to volunteer!
Our next PTO meeting will be held on zoom Tuesday, December 7th at 6:30 PM. The zoom link will be provided in the coming days.

Our Sunshine State books are here! The students have already begun reading these wonderful books and are working hard to earn rewards associated with the SSYRA and SSYRA Jr. Programs.
The Sunshine State Young Readers Award (SSYRA) Program is a statewide reading motivational program for grades 3 through 8. The purpose of the SSYRA Program is to encourage students to read independently for pleasure and to read books that are on, above, and below their reading level to improve their reading fluency. Sunshine State books are selected for their broad appeal, literary value, varied genres, curriculum connections, and/or multicultural representation. The SSYRA committee is comprised of 20 qualified school librarians located throughout the state of Florida, subdivided into two committees- grades 3-5 and grades 6-8.

Happy Holidays EDEP Families!!
We hope this newsletter finds you all healthy and happy. We are starting to get into some much colder weather. We are having a little less outdoor play but we are still enjoying fun indoors with our friends.
Eddie the Elf has made his arrival in our Kindergarten classroom. The kids in that group picked his name and are very excited to see him each day. All groups will be doing Christmas crafts this month.
We will be closed for the holiday break. Our last day is December 17th. We will return January 5th.
