Dear Parents, Guardians, Faculty and Staff,
Today we received notice that two of our Oak Ridge students (in two different grade levels) have tested positive for COVID-19. Both students were already home in quarantine and haven’t been in school in the past week.
Please know that we will notify parents via Focus and through sending a letter home if your child was in a classroom with a COVID-19 positive student. The FOCUS e-mail simply notifies you that your student was in a classroom with a positive student, the e-mail does NOT indicate if your child was found to be in close contact with the positive student.
We have completed all contract tracing and there were no students who were potentially exposed by close contact with either student.
A close contact is defined as someone who was within six feet of an infected person for at least 15 minutes.
These exposures, unfortunate as they are, highlight the importance of everyone doing their part to minimize the spread of this virus: consider being vaccinated, stay home when sick or while waiting for Covid-19 test results, keep things clean and sanitized, utilize proper hand washing, wear masks, and maintain social distancing.
We take our commitment to your child’s safety seriously and are working closely with the Leon County Health Department to follow CDC guidelines and best practices during this time. For more information about the student and family protocol please visit https://www.leonschools.net/Page/49637. The health and safety of our students is our highest priority. If you have further questions do not hesitate to reach out to me.
Sincerely,
Jasmine Smith
Principal
