We have been made aware that some Leon County School’s staff and student email accounts have received “phishing” emails. Phishing emails are becoming more common throughout our digital world and LCS works to train and educate our staff on the problem these scams can lead to—as evident in the attached information form the Leon County Sherriff’s Office.

Parents, please talk with your family about “thinking before clicking.” Most of the time It is ok to click on links from sites and people that we know, however the purpose of LCS student emails is for educational purposes only. Students should not be receiving personal or unsolicited business emails in their account. Please remind your students that if they do receive an email from our district not related to educational activities (job offers, free products, etc.) to please not open it or click on any links.

The district will continue to improve our email systems and increase awareness to deter phishing activity as much as possible.
