My name is Maicel Green, Media and External Affairs Coordinator for Talquin Electric Cooperative. Talquin Electric Cooperative and FAMU-FSU College of Engineering have partnered on this educational initiative which will be the first-ever annual Big Bend Youth Energy Academy (BBYEA) in our region. It is a two-day virtual event on July 15-16, 2021, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. We are inviting sixty 8th to 12th-grade students to participate and enjoy learning about energy.

The Youth Energy Academy will do the following:

Our goal is to provide students a pathway to learning more about the energy industry through hands-on workshops, panel discussions, educational materials, and networking with professionals in the field.

The Academy will promote engagement, attentiveness, comprehension, and inquisition about various energy concepts. It will also teach participants about different careers in the utility industry and motivate them to pursue these types of career pathways. The educational event will continue to power the youth in our community by being a key driver of innovation in reaching students and potential future employees.

I have attached the BBYEA flyer. When you open, click on the directed area to sign up for the Academy.

Warm Regards,

Maicel Green, M.S.
