Dear Cobb Families,

Even though we’ve almost made it to Winter Break, we still have some exciting things going on at school this week. On Wednesday, we are participating in the district-wide “Wellness Wednesday” program. Our school schedule will remain the same (9:30 – 3:50), but we will be exploring important social-emotional topics with our students all day in each of their classes.

The holidays can be a difficult time for adults as well as our middle schoolers; this time can bring up some Really Big Feelings. We will discuss how to cope with complicated emotions around the holidays, how to manage holiday stress, and how to deal with spending extended periods of time away from friends. Even in a span of two weeks, loneliness and isolation can set in and we plan to offer healthy coping mechanisms for our students to have in their emotional toolkit.

During Wellness Wednesday, we will have an extra special guest joining us for this month’s installment of the Facebook Live Lunch & Learn series. Dr. Cora Breuner is a world-renowned expert in adolescent medicine at Seattle Children's Hospital and will be talking to us about using physical movement to manage mental health, especially during long breaks from school. You won’t want to miss this event; we have many ways for you to participate. You can view it live on our Cobb Middle School Facebook page at 11:30 AM, you can watch the recorded session later on Facebook, or on our YouTube page.

I cannot tell you how honored I am every day to serve you and your students. As we move through the holiday season and into the new year, please let us know any way that we can support your family.

Thank you for all that you do.

Wishing you well,

Sarah
