Dear Cobb Family,

 

Today we received notice that one of our students has tested positive for COVID-19. The Leon County Department of Health will contact individuals and their families directly if further action is warranted. At Cobb, we are doing everything possible to ensure our student and staff’s health and safety – and we appreciate our community’s support in mask wearing, hand washing, and minimizing participation in large gatherings.

 

Did you know that if someone in the home develops COVID-19 symptoms and tests positive, everyone must isolate until that family member is well and then must quarantine for an additional 14 days.  This means families are home on isolation/quarantine for 24 days or more!!

 

And the Department of Health is identifying a significant exposure as being in contact with someone 48-72 hours before they develop symptoms or test positive, so you may not know you are being exposed to a person with COVID-19 at a family gathering or team event.  A significant exposure means you have been within 6 feet of a person for 15 minutes or more with or without a mask on.  Anyone determined to have had a significant exposure will be told to quarantine for 14 days, regardless of whether they test negative on a COVID-19 test of their own.

 

And finally, if anyone in your home should become ill, please seek the advice of your physician.  If testing for strep, flu or COVID-19 is advised, please keep your child home until those test results are received and take a moment to let your teacher know.  If a student misses 5 or more days of school, a doctor's note will be required for them to return to school.
