Good afternoon, Cobb Families –

We wanted to give you an idea of what a day in the life of a Cobb Cub will look like if they are attending Brick & Mortar school. We have taken into consideration safety protocols for your students, as well as worked in methods to ensure their comfort with the new blended model of instruction.

Drop-off\Before School

Supervision will begin at 8:45am. Students needing to be dropped off before then must participate in our Before-School Program. Any student arriving on campus prior to 8:45am will be sent to the before school program and be charged a drop-in fee. Sign-ups for that program will begin next week.

Prior to entering campus, students’ temperatures will be checked. They will be directed to the cafeteria for breakfast or to a designated pre-school area (outside picnic table areas (2 spaces) or the gymnasium. Students will be allowed to sit 4 to a picnic table and must have a mask on unless actively eating. In the cafeteria and the gym, students will sit in designated areas, using markers placed six feet apart to create social distance.

First Block – 9:30 – 11:15

Students will have a second temperature check prior to the start of class.

All students will spend the first 30 minutes participating in digital instruction utilizing Canvas. Both digital and brick and mortar students will be logged onto Canvas to receive direct instruction from the teacher – both on content and on the use of the on-line platform. Students will then have time for independent practice and task completion, followed by a wrap-up at the end of the class period.

Teachers will wear masks the entire class period and limit close contact with students by teaching primarily from the front of the classroom. Students will wear their masks during the class except during mask breaks as designated by the teachers.

Block 2 – 11:20 – 1:35

This block will mimic block one, except will also include a 35 minute period for lunch.

Lunch will be pre-bagged and served through the cafeteria in a grab-and-go style. Students may eat lunch in the cafeteria, sitting in designated seats that are spaced six feet apart. Students may also eat outside at picnic tables with no more than 4 students per table. All students must remain seated during lunch until dismissed by an administrator or teacher. Students will be required to wear a mask unless they are actively eating or drinking.

Block 3 – 1:40 – 3:50

This block will mimic block one, except will also include a 30 minute period for homeroom.

Homeroom will include instruction in Conscious Discipline, Cobb expectations (ROARS), social and emotional learning, as well as community building activities. Students will be asked to log into Canvas and participate in activities digitally to include both brick and mortar students and virtual students.

Dismissal

Students will be dismissed using a staggered dismissal. Walkers, bike riders, East Hill, and city bus riders will be dismissed and asked to leave campus directly. Bus riders will be dismissed as their bus arrives on campus. Students must walk directly to their dismissal point and clear campus within 5 minutes of dismissal. Students using car pick-up will be dismissed once all walkers have cleared campus. Students must be picked up no later than 4:20pm. Students who are not picked up by this time will be placed in the after school program and charged a drop-in fee.

If you have not completed the on-line survey regarding technology access for your student, please do so this week.

Thanks!

Sarah
