Greeting Parents, Students and Stakeholders,

I wanted to give a quick set of updates as the start of school draws nearer!  There is a lot of information included in this email – so please read carefully!

1.       A general school supply list has been attached to this listserv.  Please keep in mind that teachers may have a few specific requests when school starts but this should help to get your student started! Many local groups are sponsoring backpack/school supply drives – be on the lookout for that information if that can be of assistance to your family.

2.       Currently, Griffin’s enrollment is 712 students, 6th – 8th grades.  As of today, 43% of our families have selected to return to brick and mortar school in August and 57% of our families have selected to participate in the Griffin Digital Academy, taught by our very own Griffin Teachers.

3.       With our current number of students and our brick/mortar space, we will be able to social distance in most of our classrooms on campus.  This means that students may not be required to wear a mask while working at their student desk all day.  However, for the safety of all, masks will be required for students when riding the bus, during transitions between classes and around campus, and if social distancing is not available (6 feet apart).  Of course, your child is able to wear their mask should they choose.

4.       Since we will not be able to provide an “on-campus” orientation, we will hold a virtual orientation for our families on Facebook Live/Griffin Websites.  Videos will be available on the Griffin websites and will show common areas around the school, introduce administration and staff, identify keys procedures, etc.  Please continue to monitor for more information about this.

5.       When school begins,  every child will have a temperature check and pediatric assessment when they arrive to school.  If their temperature is 100 degrees or higher, the parent/guardian will be contacted to pick up their child immediately.  If your contact information or pick up list is incorrect in FOCUS, please update that information or contact our registrar (Mrs. Harris) to assist you with this.

6.       You may have heard that Superintendent Hanna is proposing a delayed school start date of August 24th.  This proposal must be approved by the School Board.  Please continue to monitor your listserv/Griffin social media for the most up to date information.

7.       7th Grade Parents- Please be sure to turn in your child’s T-DAP Immunization records as soon as possible.

We know that there are many unanswered questions and our administrative team is available to discuss questions or concerns with you – please feel free to contact us; we are always here to help our families!  The main office number is 850-617-5353.  We will continue to provide updates for you as they become available.
