Dear Success Academy Families,

Our school is committed to the safety and education of all students.  Coupled with safety is direct, open communication with you.  I want to make you aware of an incident that occurred yesterday on campus.  During an investigation of a separate incident, a school official read threatening text messages on a cell phone that were very concerning.  Given the nature of the text messages, we immediately involved our school resource deputy, the school district safety and security team, and additional members of the Leon County Sheriff's Office.  An investigation was launched and an arrest of one of our students occurred swiftly.  At no time was the campus threatened, therefore we did not lock down the school.

Classes resumed as normal today with an increased staff presence throughout the school.  District officials also came to campus to assist.  We will continue to have additional staff on campus tomorrow which includes additional deputies and guidance counselors.  Deputies and counselors will be available to all students who may want to talk about this incident.

Please know that all threats are taken seriously and will be investigated thoroughly.  Your child’s safety is our number one priority.  If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly at 850-488-2087.

Most Sincerely,

Jessica Lowe
