Solar Eclipse - Four ways to safely view a solar eclipse
1. Use approved solar eclipse viewers. The only safe way to view a partially eclipsed sun is through special-purpose solar filters, such as "eclipse glasses" or viewers<https://eclipse.aas.org/resources/solar-filters> that meet international standard ISO 12312-2 for safe viewing. Sunglasses, smoked glass, unfiltered telescopes or magnifiers, and polarizing filters are unsafe. If you can't find eclipse viewers, build a pinhole projector<https://www.jpl.nasa.gov/edu/learn/> to watch the eclipse.
2. Technique of the pros. Before looking at the sun, cover your eyes with the eclipse viewers while standing still. Glance at the sun, turn away and then remove your filter. Do not remove the filter while looking at the sun.
3. Totality awesome. Only within the path of totality-and once the moon completely blocks the sun-can eclipse viewers safely be removed to view totality. Once the sun begins reappearing, however, viewers must be replaced.
4. Visit your doctor of optometry. If you should experience discomfort or vision problems following the eclipse, visit your local doctor of optometry<https://www.aoa.org/doctor-locator-search?tab=basic> for a comprehensive eye examination.

Dear Gradebook User,
[cid:image006.png@01D31A7C.B8CA5110]
The Parent Portal has been closed over the summer as we prepared for the 2017-2018 school year. It has been adapted for a better mobile experience.

With the Parent Portal reopening, all students and parents will be able to access the Portal. We anticipate issuing the Parent Portal letters with the usernames and passwords within the next few days. Accounts follow students throughout grades K-12, so if you had access last year or changed your password from the default, it will be the same credentials as last year. You will have a separate account for each child.

The Parent Portal will be coming back online today, MONDAY, August 21st, 2017 at 5:00 PM ET for the 2017-2018 school year. Griffin Middle School will be sending out parent portal letters with usernames and password login information very soon. Please allow time for the information to be distributed. You are always welcome to contact one of our administrators or guidance and we will be happy to accommodate your child's progress at Griffin Middle School.

If you have any questions regarding portal access (account setup or additional accounts), please contact us directly at 617-5353.

If you require password assistance after receiving your credentials, please contact [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> with your name, your child's name, school they attend and their date of birth.

Sincerely,

Gradebook Support Team
