Celebrate Literacy Week
Schedule of Events January 25 – 29
Monday, January 25
·
Catch the Rays and Read Day
– Bring a pair of sunglasses and a blanket to school. We will wear our shades outside and enjoy reading in the Florida sunlight.

Sealey Elementary Book Drive Begins
– Each student is asked to donate a new or gently used book. These books will be given to a local women’s shelter for children to read for fun as well as for literacy support in
homework. Friday is the last day for the book drive.
Tuesday, January 26
·
Score with Books Day
– Enjoy reading today while supporting your favorite team by wearing your team shirt or colors to school.
Wednesday, January 27
·
Read My Shirt Day
– On this day, students and teachers are invited to wear shirts that contain words or phrases on them. This is a fun and engaging way to incorporate reading with the fashion world.
(Words and /phrases must contain appropriate messages and follow the school dress code.)
Thursday, January 28
·
Wild about Books Day
– Please wear clothing related to animals. Ex: Dogs, whales, or animal prints.
·
Bookmark Contest entry is due to Mrs. Steed by 2:30 PM.
Friday, January 29
·
Flashlight Friday
– Students are asked to bring in a small flashlight to school. Students will take out their flashlights to read in the dark.

– Each student is asked to share the joy of reading by donating a new or gently used book. These books will be donated to a local women’s shelter for children to read for fun as
well as for literacy support. |
