Dear Parents and Community:

As you are aware, several of our schools—Cobb, Godby, Lincoln, and Rickards—recently received threats via social media outlets. We would like to assure parents and the community that we do not take these threats lightly and that extra security was placed at each of the affected school sites.  We have been monitoring this situation throughout the day and will continue to closely monitor the situation in the days to come. We will have increased security at our schools this week.

I would like to thank Sheriff Mike Wood, the Tallahassee Police Department and other local law enforcement, school administrators and staff, and the local community for their support during this time.

If you kept your child at home today, the absence will be excused. The safety and the security of our students is our top priority at all times.

Jackie Pons

Superintendent, Leon County Schools
