Students have just one week before reporting back to school for the new school year.  The only supplies we ask our students to bring on the first day are paper, pencils, folders and a binder.  Students may also find it helpful to have a thumb drive.  Because students are not issued lockers right away, book bags are not allowed on campus.  When students have lockers they may bring a book bag and keep it in the locker during the school day.

7th Grade Immunization Requirement

FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH IN LEON COUNTY HOLDS SPECIAL IMMUNIZATION CLINICS FOR CHILDREN

Students who will be entering kindergarten or 7th grade next school year must have certain immunization documentation on file at school before the start of the next school year. Parents are encouraged to get their children immunized now for the upcoming 2014-2015 school year!

The Florida Department of Health in Leon County (formerly known as the “Leon County Health Department”) provides routine back-to-school immunizations, Monday through Friday, by appointment. In addition, in July the Health Department in Leon has scheduled four special, extended-hours immunization clinics targeting students, high school age and younger, needing immunizations for school attendance. Appointments can be made at Roberts & Stevens Clinic, 1515 Old Bainbridge Road.

To schedule an appointment, or for more information, please call the Florida Department of Health in Leon County, Immunization Program Office, at (850) 606-8020.

Children must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Students will not be allowed in classes until immunization requirements are met.

Grandparents Program

The grandparents program is called “Grandparents as Parents” or GaP, for short.   It is a support group for grandparents and other relatives raising another person’s children.  They meet on the last Wednesday of every month at the main public library downtown for a free catered luncheon at noon with an educational presentation, exhibits from community agencies, health screenings and access to representatives from DCF and legal services.  But reservations are required so that they can have enough food for everyone!  If you are  interested in this program, call Karen Boebinger at 891-4027 or email [log in to unmask] to make a reservation.  They would LOVE to have anyone who is raising a relative’s child join us for these lunches, or for a GaP family picnic, outing or holiday party.
