April is School Library Media Month and we would like to call attention to what’s happening in our Media Center this month: The Media Center is being renovated! Construction began this week and our state-of-the-art technology upgrade should be finished by early April. More details will follow as the renovation progresses.

---Our annual Griffin Book Fair will take place in the Media Center from April 14-17 during National Library Week. The Book Fair will be open during school hours as well as during the evening of April 16 in conjunction with our Curriculum Fair. Come check us out and promote reading at Griffin!

---The Media Center Parent Survey is now online at www.griffin.leon.k12.fl.us/gillelandp/default.aspx. Look on the far left side of the screen and click under Surveys on the Parent Survey, then click on Respond to the Survey. After answering the questions, scroll back up to the top of the screen and click on Save and Close. Please take a moment to complete the survey and assist us in better serving your children.

Sports Performance/Football Passing League –See Mr. Bacon for this exciting opportunity for those who are interested in playing football. Dates are March 21, 22, 28 and 29. Cost is $25.00 per session.

End of the Year Field Trips – Students must meet criteria to go on trips. Please refer to grade level End of the Year Field Trip letters for criteria.

8^th Grade will be traveling to Gradventure 09 at Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure in Orlando. The trip will be Friday, May 8^th, leaving GMS at 8:00 a.m. and returning at 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 9. The cost of the trip is $155.00 due in 3 installments, March 16^th, April 1^st and April 17^th. There are no seats available – See Ms Bush for a Notice of Waiting List.

7^th Grade will be traveling to Islands of Adventure in Orlando. The trip will be Friday, May 15^th, leaving GMS at 4:00 a.m. and returning at 11:00 p.m. that same day. The cost of the trip is $120.00 due in 3 installments, March 13^th, March 31^st, and April 24^th. There are still 8 seats available.

6^th Grade will be traveling to Islands of Adventure in Orlando as well. The trip will be Friday, May 15^th, leaving GMS at 4:00 a.m. and returning at 11:00 p.m. that same day. The cost of the trip is $120.00 due in 3 installments, March 18^th, March 31^st and April 24^th. There are still seats available.

The first $50.00 is the deposit which reserves your space on the trip. Funds are nonrefundable and payments must be made in full by the last installment date.

The Griffin Middle School PTO Silent Auction and Black History Program is scheduled for Tuesday, March 24^th, from 5:30 pm to 6:45 pm. Mark your calendars so that your family doesn’t miss the PTO auction and great fashion show (7-8:00 pm) by Studio Productions and Successful Young Men and Women.
