April is School Library Media Month and we would like to call attention to what's happening in our Media Center this month: The Media Center is being renovated! Construction began this week and our state-of-the-art technology upgrade should be finished by early April. More details will follow as the renovation progresses. ---Our annual Griffin Book Fair will take place in the Media Center from April 14-17 during National Library Week. The Book Fair will be open during school hours as well as during the evening of April 16 in conjunction with our Curriculum Fair. Come check us out and promote reading at Griffin! ---The Media Center Parent Survey is now online at www.griffin.leon.k12.fl.us/gillelandp/default.aspx. Look on the far left side of the screen and click under Surveys on the Parent Survey, then click on Respond to the Survey. Please refer to grade level End of the Year Field Trip letters for criteria. 8th Grade will be traveling to Gradventure 09 at Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure in Orlando. The trip will be Friday, May 8th, leaving GMS at 8:00 a.m. and returning at 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 9. The cost of the trip is $155.00 due in 3 installments, March 16th, April 1st and April 17th. There are no seats available - See Ms Bush for a Notice of Waiting List. 7th Grade will be traveling to Islands of Adventure in Orlando. The trip will be Friday, May 15th, leaving GMS at 4:00 a.m. and returning at 11:00 p.m. that same day. The cost of the trip is $120.00 due in 3 installments, March 13th, March 31st, and April 24th. There are still 8 seats available. 6th Grade will be traveling to Islands of Adventure in Orlando as well. The trip will be Friday, May 15th, leaving GMS at 4:00 a.m. and returning at 11:00 p.m. that same day. The cost of the trip is $120.00 due in 3 installments, March 18th, March 31st and April 24th. There are still seats available. The first $50.00 is the deposit which reserves your space on the trip. Funds are nonrefundable and payments must be made in full by the last installment date. The Griffin Middle School PTO Silent Auction and Black History Program is scheduled for Tuesday, March 24th, from 5:30 pm to 6:45 pm. Mark your calendars so that your family doesn't miss the PTO auction and great fashion show (7-8:00 pm) by Studio Productions and Successful Young Men and Women.
