Spring Curriculum Fair

Griffin is hosting its annual Spring Curriculum Fair on Tuesday, April 22nd from 5:30-7:00 in the media center. All parents and students attending Griffin next year are invited to come to learn more about sixth, seventh, and eighth grade curriculum as well as our magnet programs--Pre-Advanced Placement and Pre-Information Technology. It is also a wonderful opportunity to visit our campus and meet our teachers, guidance counselors, and administrative team. See you there!

Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work/Griffin Career Shadowing Day

On Thursday, April 24^th, Griffin students may participate in the annual Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work/Griffin Career Shadowing Day.  In order to be excused, students must have the Pre-arranged Absence Form completed before 4/24 and also provide a letter from the place of business, on letterhead, stating that they indeed participated on 4/24.  This letter is due to their homeroom teacher NO LATER THAN Friday, 4/25.  Students may get the Pre-arranged Absence Form from the main office or as an attachment to this email.

Volunteers

We are proud to recognize and honor our GMS 2008 Tallahassee Democrat Volunteers of the Year in the Education Category.  Ms. Kim Williams, has supported GMS as a volunteer in many capacities over the years while her children have attended our school.  With her daughter moving on to high school, we are thankful for all Ms. Williams has done at Griffin.    We also recognize Ms. Tricia Reed and Ms. Deana Coyner, new 6^th grade GMS parents this year.  They have spent many hours supporting our school and we look forward to working with them in the future.  Our fine volunteers will be honored at the 30th Annual Volunteers of the Year awards luncheon held at the Florida State University, University Center Club located at Doak Campbell Stadium on Thursday, April 17, from 11:30 - 1:00.  Tickets to this event are $22.00 and are on sale, beginning April 1, in the front lobby of the Tallahassee Democrat, 277 N. Magnolia Drive, from 9:00 - 4:00.  The last day to purchase tickets in the lobby is Friday, April 11. Seating will be assigned at the day of the event, so tickets will need to be purchased together.  Tables accommodate up to ten people.  Our school community is invited to come and celebrate our volunteers with us.  We appreciate the service given to our school.  Thank you!

8^th Grade Washington DC Trip Update

Mrs. Register called as this email is being composed.  The group has boarded the plan in Baltimore, tired and ready to come home.  They spent the day today at Mt. Vernon after leaving the hotel at 7:00 a.m. and they are due to arrive in Tallahassee at 7:30 p.m.  We will be ready to hear their exciting stories on Monday after they have had a restful weekend!
