SPRINGWOOD ELEMENTARY

CHARACTER WORD
for “November” is RESPECT

################################################################

Dear Parents/Guardians, and Students;

With our first nine weeks under our belt, we are on to even better things this second
nine weeks! Report cards will be out on the 26th of October, our fundraiser items are
here at school to be picked up, Halloween is coming at the end of the month along
with the time change, Veteran’s Day is Nov. 11, and we are beginning our morning
tutoring on Nov. 1 for our targeted 3rd-5th grade students.

Speaking of Halloween, please do not allow your students to wear costumes, masks,
colored hair or other distracting attire on Halloween day. We love to celebrate all
types of holidays, but we no longer celebrate Halloween with dress-up activities. We
celebrate fall instead.

On the topic of morning tutoring, if your child has an Academic Improvement Plan
and is in grades 3, 4 or 5, we will be sending home permission slips for morning
tutoring from 7:30-8:00 AM Monday-Thursday for you to sign. You will be required to
provide transportation to the school on the mornings your child attends, and your
student will be required to attend all sessions signed up for. Your child MUST have a
permission slip in order to participate. Once we have filled all the slots needed for
our grade 3-5 students, we will invite grades 1 and 2 students and our exceptional
education students to participate.

Our List Serve is growing by leaps and bounds, and we hope you have added your
name to our list. If you have not done so and you want to receive emails from us,
please go to our website, locate list serve membership, and add your email address.
It is a great way to receive all the news from our school electronically.

 Sincerely,
Charlie Hogan
   Principal

Canned Food Drive

Springwood cares about it’s families.
Each year our food drive successfully aids families from our own community,
helping them to enjoy the holidays.
Once again we ask for your help.
Please make it a habit to begin now by picking up an extra can or two a week and
adding it to our “assistance pantry,”
You are helping us to take care of our own.
Thank you in advance for your gift!
