SAIL PTSO MEETING, Tuesday, Feb 13, 2007, 7:45 AM
SAIL High School, Tallahassee, FL

1.      Welcome and Introductions:  President Dawn McDermott opened the
meeting.  Present: Lanny Thomas, Laura Dunaway, Taylor Phillips, Lynn
Smith, Talia Smith, Anne Hartsfield, Lisa Creel, Richard Baas, Elaine
Dennis, George Weaver, Janet Kistner, Rosanne Wood, Dave Crandall,
Odessa Johnson
2.      Review and Approval of Jan 9th minutes: approved, and posted to website.
3.      Treasurer's Report: Anne Hartsfield reminded us that receipts are
required for reimbursement.  She reported that we have at least $3800
in account, including $200 set aside for Valentine's dance, $150 for
teacher appreciation gifts, $700 for prom, $200 for student birthdays.
Anne moved that $50 be budgeted toward employee retirement fund;
motion seconded by Dawn and approved.
4.      PTSO Reports
A.      Volunteer Coordinators: Lyn Smith updated us on the Valentine's
dance coming up this Friday night at the American Legion Hall.
Chaperones and sodas lined up, a Valentine's King and Queen from each
class to be crowned, 75-100 students expected, but, ticket sales, gift
certificates and food donors coming along slowly, $15 donated so far,
Elaine and Laura volunteered to bring food.  Sylvia Baker will be one
prom coordinator, Tracey Allen looking for one more. Elaine will make
District Report, asked for parents to pick up forms in office to
record volunteer hours, due in May 19. This is volunteer month and
Rosanne says thanks. Laura and Lisa will ask parents to sign up to
bring breakfast for teacher appreciation week, May 7-11, door prizes
given out May 8.
B.      Student Government: Odessa reported that carnations sold $1 apiece,
3 for $2 this week. SAIL to work with area schools in Super Clean
Sweep Day Feb 24 and Habitat for Humanity building day April 14.
C.      Sponsor Business/Alumni Partnership Coordinators: Laura reported
that externship programs are developing with Westminster Oaks, Senior
Center, and others.
D.      Wish List Request: Dave reported that the move is still coming in
August, work continues.
E.      District Advisory Council: no report.
F.      Leon County School Board: meets tonight.
5.      Upcoming Events: Awards and Field Day, May 9. Prom, May 11, Marzuq
Temple, Richard will look into finding a DJ.
6.      New Business: none.
7.      Principal's Report: SAIL will lead pledge and give thought for the
day at County School Board meeting tonight and show SAIL video.
Democrat coming to campus today. Showcase Thursday night for
prospective parents.
