                                 SAIL HIGH SCHOOL
                                   PTSO Minutes
                              April 8, 2008 7:51 a.m.

1.  INTRODUCTION:  Anne Hartsfield, Laura Dunaway, Lanny Thomas, Melissa
Champany, Rosanne Wood, & Lisa Creel.

2.  Approval of minutes from March 18, 2008 meeting- All accept.

3.  TREASURER'S REPORT:  Donation letters went out and we received a couple
more.  Donation of $50 was made to Leon County Schools for volunteer
breakfast.

4.  PRINCIPAL'S REPORT:  Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast will be on 5/1 @ 9
a.m.  3 people from SAIL were nominated for volunteer of the year Jerry
Woodall, Barb Crandall, & Nancy DiGisi.  Intensives are coming up the week
of 4/28 thru 5/2.  We have still not made any progress finding somebody to
help with the plans for the new gazebo.  Plans are drawn up, but need a
architect or engineer to revise them. Melissa said she might be able to find
someone and will work on it. If anyone knows someone that is qualified
PLEASE contact Rosanne. The memorial fountain is in and looks great!! Big
Thanks to Buzz Ireland for designing and constructing.  (Can contact him at
562-8797 or www.Aquafeatures.com)  Rosanne mentioned a hope that we could
have some kind of decking built around the fountain. If anyone has any
resources there please let Rosanne know.  Earth Day at the Capitol will be
4/22 starting around 9 a.m.  Students and staff from SAIL will be there
playing music, juggling, and will have some fiber arts displayed.
Lao has a need for 2-liter bottles to use as juggling props. Drop them off
in front office.

5.  PTSO REPORTS:
  A. PTSO Elections- They will be held at the next meeting 5/13 @ 7:50 a.m.
We need a new president-elect and treasurer.
  B. Teacher Appreciation Week- Will be the week of 5/12 thru 5/16. Usually
we provide a breakfast every morning that week for teachers and on Tuesday
at the staff meeting they are given a gift card or certificate. If you are
interested in helping with food or a gift please contact Laura
Dunaway([log in to unmask]) or Lisa Creel ([log in to unmask])
Let's make it nice for the teachers!!!!
 C. Survey- PTSO will be doing a online survey within the next month.  On
the survey will be questions about having quarterly night meetings,
fundraising ideas, & school involvement ideas.
  D. Alumni- We need a volunteer to work on getting alumni more involved in
SAIL.  Involving alumni in fundraising (like selling bricks for walkway) or
being part of activities.
  E. Fundraising-  A letter will be sent home soon talking about upcoming
projects and the need for funds and parent and student involvement.
  F. Website Development- Lanny got the software from Sterling and is
working on it.
  G. District Advisory Council- no report.
  H. Leon County Schools- no report.
  I. Goals Committee- GAZEBO!

6.  Meeting adjourned @ 8:45 a.m. Next meeting scheduled for May 13, 2008 @
7:50 a.m.
