Meeting Highlights
The Information Meeting reviewed Ruediger's Safety Prevention Planning
All principals in Leon County have National Incident Management System
(NIMS) training;
Ruediger has a Crisis Team of 10 staff members trained in First Aid and CPR;
Ruediger holds monthly Crisis Team Meetings and school-wide drills;
Ruediger gates are locked after the tardy bell and again after 2:10
dismissal each day;
Ruediger's classroom doors are locked during the day;
Staff supervise students before and after school.
All visitors must check in the front office. Visitors are scanned into the
Raptor Security System.
Ruediger's Incident Response followed all safety procedures. In addition,
LCS Emergency Phone System notified all RES parents with current phone
numbers about the incident.
All walkers were taken home as an added precaution by Law Enforcement
On Monday, November 27th Superintendent, Jackie Pons, Assistant
Superintendent, Marvin Henderson, LCS Safety and Security Director, John
Hunkier, Resource Officer, Tom Hildebrandt, Sheriff Deputy Parker and
staff greeted students and parents as they arrived on campus 7:00-7:50.
Superintendent, Jackie Pons, Resource Officer, Tom Hildebrandt, and
Principal, Carolyn Spooner addressed students over the school's news
station W-RES Stranger Danger.
LCS Guidance Counselors and Janis Long are available to any students under
stress from the situation.
During the meeting parents were encouraged to help by making sure the
school has current home phone numbers. They were also encouraged to provide
current emergency numbers and to sign up for the Ruediger Listserv.
As added security support, Superintendent, Jackie Pons said the county will
add campus video cameras at entrance ways and an instructional aide to
monitor hallways, and additional school radios.
