FROM: Alia Faraj, Governor’s Communications Director
RE: Flags at Half-Staff
On October 30, 2005, President George W. Bush issued a Proclamation
directing that the flag of the United States be displayed at half-staff as
a mark of respect for the memory of Rosa Parks, who died October 25, 2005.
Flags will be lowered at the White House, public buildings and grounds,
military posts and naval stations, naval vessels of the Federal Government
in the District of Columbia and throughout the United States and its
Territories and possessions, on the day of her interment.
The Governor, in accordance with the President’s Proclamation, has asked
that all state and local governments honor the memory of Rosa Parks by
lowering their U.S. and state flags at half-staff on Wednesday, November 2,
2005, until sunset.
Thank You,
Patrick Roach
